ABOUT THE EXIT IS WITHIN
'LA SALIDA ES HACIA ADENTRO' is a concept that I understood with time.
I have walked an inner path of self-discovery, growth, and healing, trying to carve my own way guided by what lives within me rather than by the expectations and social constructs I grew up around.
This journey of inner observation continues to unfold in an ever more authentic way. I am convinced that quieting the noise and turning inward is how we meet our true selves and ultimately discover a path of happiness and purpose — the path, the portal, the exit... is within
THE LOGO
The Tasmanian Waratahs represent my connection to Tasmania, the beautifully wild island I call home. The huaco — a traditional Peruvian ceramic— honours my cultural roots. The sun and moon symbolise duality, while the Andean woman in traditional dress holds incense, creating a sacred space. A bird accompanies her, representing freedom.
Special thanks to my talented friend Katie Roberts from The Understorey, who once again captured my vision and created the perfect logo.
Gracias, amiga, and to the powerful creative women who surround and inspire me.
BEHIND THE EXIT IS WITHIN
Hola, my name is Kari. I am Peruvian and have called Australia and Tasmania home for over a decade. I feel a deep sense of belonging to this country while remaining closely connected to my roots and Peruvian cultural heritage.
I have been making for as long as I can remember. From creating my own adornments as a little girl, to exploring stained glass, woodwork, crafting, and travelling through South America — making has always been a way for me to slow down and connect with my inner world.
I inherited my manual skills from my grandpa Teodoro, who had a small workshop on the fifth floor of his building in downtown Lima, Peru. I carry his curiosity for bits and pieces, and the patience to fix, remake, and create.
I create in many ways — through photography or clay, beading or styling. I don’t believe there is a limit to how, or in what forms, we can express ourselves. This space is a platform to share some of what I create now, and it will continue to evolve as I do, through the seasons.
I love nature and once worked as an outdoor professional, I was a guide in the Peruvian Amazon and in the red centre in Australia.
I have recently become a bodywork practitioner — I have a small studio where I am discovering this new path of healing by touch. I take photos for fun, here is where you can see what I see.
I live in a small coastal town near the Tasman Peninsula, where I love waking at sunrise to go surfing.
